The French Open Tennis Tournament – Roland-Garros – Paris, France – Pounding The Red Clay

We had to book our tickets months in advance for this tournament. We were at home on our laptops waiting at 3am to click on the website to buy tickets upon opening. Luckily, we scored and got our tickets for Philippe Chatrier Court.

We hopped on the Metro to get to the closest station to Roland Garros, once out, it was a good 15 minute walk to get to the grounds. After a lineup to get in, we got to finally venture the grounds. We have to say, it was a lot smaller than we expected and way smaller than all the other three grand slams.

It was exciting to see the red clay, the only time we’ve played on clay it was grey clay. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see Rafael Nadal on his home court, but we did get to see Novak Djokovic and a few other matches. But first, the grounds:

Court Philippe Chatrier has so much history to it, being built in 1928 and a seating capacity of 15,255.

We had a bit of a break in between matches so we walked around a bit.

So happy to spend the day here at Roland Garros. We got to see the grounds, souvenir shops with a lot of Babolat goods and most importantly, a lot of good matches. We even got to see some doubles and get up really close as we could basically be court-side.

Thanks
