Air China Business Class Lounge (No. 71) Terminal 2, 4F, International Departures – Pudong International Airport, Shanghai – Spacious and Quiet, Perfect to Relax Before Your Flight

We have been to Pudong International Airport over ten times but this is the first time we got to go to the Air China Business Class Lounge. We have to say, we were pretty impressed! The lounge entrance is a bit strange though as you enter and immediately to the right are lockers to store your baggage if you choose to do so. There’s tons of seating and at the back you can see a bar setting. However, what really sticks out is the set of escalators that go up to the second floor and where all the main amenities are.

Once you take the escalators up, you arrive at the main lounge with the Air China desk. It seemed like it was a completely different lounge from the first floor as you see a lot more people, the food area and different seating.

The food options looked a bit limited to me as they had dumplings, rice, noodles, tofu, eggs, meat, pasta and potatoes for the hot dishes with fruit & dessert to end the meal. However, my better half discovered that they can make a selection of dishes to order. These were definitely the highlights of the meals.

While the food offerings were decent, the real winner was what they can make to order. They had half a dozen choices but we went with the two below.

They had other offerings like Hawaiian Pizza, but pineapple on pizza is hardly pizza (in my opinion)! They also have fresh fruit to grab on the go. However, the best was the little snacks like crackers, beef jerky, chips, peanuts, cookies and wafers.

The drinks were plentiful too. With a self-serve Jura coffee machine with numerous options you’ll have your caffeine hit. There are lot’s of fridges around the entire lounge for you to grab water, soft drinks and beer.

The Air China Business Class lounge has a Media Center but it seems to be decommissioned as there was only one computer there. I guess most people would bring in their own laptop, however, there isn’t too much in the way of privacy.

We found our favourite spot though in this lounge! It was a theatre area, although it wasn’t playing a movie, it was playing tennis which we are huge fans of. The second theatre room was playing the news. No one was in there, so we enjoyed the room to ourselves which seated 7 people in a semi-circle.

As mentioned, the lounge had tons of seating all around. The washrooms were clean and they even had showers available. They weren’t the newest showers or washroom like the Turkish Airlines Business Lounge in Istanbul, but if you’ve been travelling all day, nothing beats a hot shower. Overall, there must have been seating for about 500 people, all with huge comfortable chairs.

With this huge lounge, you can go upstairs to grab a bite from pre-cooked food or made-to-order and then relax in the theatre room, do some work in the media room, relax in one of the huge chairs or head back downstairs and sit at the bar. Along with shower rooms, this lounge has it all.

PROS:

  • Tons of space to find your own spot to chill
  • Theatre room
  • Showers
  • Made-to-order food choices
  • Snacks to take on the go
  • Luggage storage area
  • Lot’s of drink choices and huge fridges holding them all

CONS:

  • Could have a few more western food choices
  • Some extra amenities or activities like Istanbul Airport would be nice but not necessary (I’m nitpicking here because this lounge is so good)

Thanks
