Fishman Lobster Clubhouse – Scarborough, Ontario, Canada – Best Lobster Deal!
We’ve now been to this restaurant 4 times in the past year, each time was super awesome! The first time we ordered a 12 pounds of lobster that was cooked three ways. This happened to be our least favourite, looking back now. The next three times, we learned what to order and that was the lobster cooked only in Hong Kong Style. Now, everybody’s taste is different so this is just our opinion but we loved having the lobster this way because the flavour was stronger with some heat and lot’s of garlic. The french fries are so tasty!

When you order the other way, the best pieces were cooked in garlic sauce and steamed. With the Hong Kong style being so strong, the other pieces felt so plain and underwhelming.

The first time we went to this restaurant we did the Double Large Lobster Dinner for 4-6. It came with the soup of the day, lobster four ways (steamed lobster meat, poached claw in soup, leg in Hong Kong style, and lobster roe fried rice), steamed bass, poached snow peas and dessert.

The next times we went, we did the flat rate of $22.00 per pound of lobster and you got soup of the day, lobster in Hong Kong style poached snow peas, lobster roe fried rice and dessert. We really liked this method as we got all the pieces in the way we liked it.

The restaurant itself is pretty large with lot’s of tables but it doesn’t feel squished like some other Chinese restaurants. The decor is decent with fish tanks full of king crab and huge lobsters lining the walls.

It’s pretty fun to see them bring out the lobster/king crab in plastic crates that they drag along the floor with a hook and to see the people’s reactions to how big they are. Most tables end up having people hold the lobster up for pictures. I guess it’s like catching a fish and taking a picture without doing the catching!

There are quite a few other restaurants around Toronto that offer this type of dining experience, all have their own way to cook and serve it, some are better, some worse, some more expensive and some cheaper, it all depends on what you are looking for. In terms of cost and quality of food, Fishman Lobster Clubhouse has our vote. We have tried Yu Seafood on Hwy 7, that is also one of the best, especially the shark fin fried rice. Keep an eye out for a separate write-up on that restaurant.
