Vinpearl Landmark 81, Autograph Collection Hotel, Ho Chi Minh (Saigon), Vietnam

We did some research for our trip to Ho Chi Minh and saw this amazing new hotel called Vinpearl Landmark 81. We could immediately see the resemblance to a cut-down version of the Burj Khalifa. Developed by Vietnam’s largest real estate developer, Vinhomes, it holds the title of the tallest building in Vietnam.

Entrance – Ground Floor

The entrance to the hotel has it’s own lobby (although no check-in desk) and connects with the mall through a bare hallway. There are escalators that lead to the car park and just around the side is the entrance to the residential units.

Main Lobby Check-In – 48th Floor

Heading up to the 48th floor is the check-in. Once you step out of the elevators, your jaw will drop as you wouldn’t have expected to see 30 plus feet of open space. Flowers and chairs to admire the view adorn the area with the check-in desks over to the right. The staff were incredibly polite and provided us with welcome drinks while we waited for our room to be ready.

The Cloud – 48th Floor

On the same floor as the check-in was The Cloud. It is a bar style area where you can get a drink and/or some food. It has a very nice atmosphere with an even better view. You can really see the whole city of Ho Chi Minh from this building.

Room – Main Entrance/Coffee & Tea Station

Our room wasn’t too much higher than the lobby at the 50th floor but we did get a corner room which gave us more angles to see the city. Once you enter the room, there is a slight hallway and then the bathroom to the right. Just after the door to the bathroom (and still in the hallway) was the built-in luggage rack with the fridge and coffee & tea station. The coffee was nothing great being instant, however, that didn’t matter much as you can get excellent coffee anywhere in the city. Highland Coffee is a coffee chain that was in the mall connected to our hotel.

Room – Main Room/Bed

As you continue into the room, there is a flat panel TV to the left and the bed to the right. The closet is also on the right side which houses the robes, slippers and safe. To the left side was a large, heavy chair and ottoman with a desk and chair near the head of the bed.

Room – Desk

The desk was nice though and the wooden alarm clock with temperature also doubles as a wireless phone charger on the top.

Room – Bathroom

The bathroom was fairly spacious with a full size tub that we never used, a single sink, toilet to the right side and a glass shower. We personally would have liked to have dual sinks rather than a large tub. The amenities are from Seaweed Therapy for the shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. In a black box, you are provided with toothbrushes, comb, vanity kit, sewing kit, shower cap & hair band, sanitary bag, shaving kit and mouthwash. At the tub, you’ll find a loofah and bath salts. One design issue we had was the shower as the water would constantly leak out under the glass door towards the toilet. So we had to use a towel just to keep the water from going everywhere.

The Gym

The gym was a pretty decent space and had great views of the city to get you inspired. On the 47th floor, it is just one floor down from the check-in and The Cloud. The equipment was plentiful, new and of high quality from Life Cycle. We won’t name all of the equipment as you can peruse the photos to see them.

The Spa

The spa was also on this floor and was pretty extensive. However, it was very quiet so we just walked right in and took some pictures.

The Pool

One of the last main areas we are going to showcase here on this review is the infinity pool. There’s something special about taking a dip 47 floors above the ground and being able to overlook the edge but safely behind tall glass. We did come out here a couple of times to enjoy the view and once to swim and play some games in the water. Earlier when looking from above on the 48th floor, the pool did not look that large, however, when you are actually in it, it was a decent length and quite wide.

Few Last Notes

The view from this hotel was great, you can really see the entire city, even out as far as the airport.

Back in the building, your keycard controls everything. Simply put your card below the control panel and it’ll automatically give you a selection of floors that you are allowed access to.

As this building is pretty new, we just had to show you a photo of the lobby floor bathroom and the views you get.

The Vinpearl group must be proud of this building and they have every right to be. It is a stunning building with coordinated lights flashing on the exterior at night. As the tallest in Vietnam, 2nd tallest in Southeast Asia and 18th tallest in the world, this building rises tall and is a beacon of pride in Ho Chi Minh.

Closing Remarks

We stayed for 5 nights and we couldn’t have been happier. The service was good, the front desk employees were all attentive and doing everything they could to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. We didn’t try any restaurants in the hotel because we were with friends that knew the city and took us to great places around Ho Chi Minh. However, we did eat many times in the mall directly below the hotel for breakfast and lunch and we couldn’t have been happier with all the food choices, everything was just so delicious and the prices were all very reasonable. We can’t wait to go back to Ho Chi Minh and stay again at Vinpearl Landmark 81.

PROS:

  • Convenient location in its own way – a mall directly connected and many choices of food for restaurants and coffee
  • Service was excellent from the front end staff
  • Bellmen were always at the front and ensuring that you get a taxi within seconds
  • We would definitely stay here again, the building is new and in great condition

CONS:

  • Location wasn’t in the downtown or a lively area, however, grabbing a taxi and getting anywhere is pretty quick and cheap so it’s not really a con for us, just something to bear in mind if you want to be closer to the action
  • Bathroom shower could have a better design and drainage so that the water doesn’t leak outwards
