Hotel Review: The St. Regis Dubai, The Palm – 5 Star Hotel, It Doesn’t Get Better Than This – Part 1
As the last hotel we would be staying of our 6 week trip, we wanted it to be as relaxing as possible. We contemplated about staying at the JW Marriott Marquis for two nights and then here at the St. Regis but decided not to as we didn’t feel like changing hotels midway. We certainly made the right choice as we have a lot to say about this hotel so strap in as this blog post is going to be a long one!
Lobby
We arrived at 4am from Ho Chi Minh got a taxi over which took about 25 minutes and cost about $25 which was pretty good for such a long trip. Our bags were quickly put on a trolley and doors were always opened for us by the pleasant bellmen. We sat down at the front counter and were checked in well ahead of our time by Fabian, we couldn’t have been happier as we really wanted to get some sleep.

Room
We were assigned room 622 which was decent but we were later moved up to the 17th floor which was the exact same layout but faced the East instead of West. We did prefer the 17th floor as it just seemed cleaner and the view was nicer. 18th is the top floor for the rooms at The St. Regis.
The room itself was good, not as big as the St. Regis Shanghai or St. Regis Venice which you can read from our post as well. However, it was newer than the St. Regis Singapore which we just stayed at a few weeks earlier.

Room – Bathroom
The bathroom was a decent size and setup. Straight in front are dual sinks which is always preferred. To the left was the modern tub and to the right is the water closet (toilet) and the glass shower. Everything was great and worked the way (mostly) it was supposed to, however, the shower wand wasn’t holding up and kept flopping down cutting off the water flow.

Once you enter the room, on your left you have two closets flanked by the makeup counter with the hair dryer in the drawer. In one closet you will have your robe and slippers and the other will have iron, iron board, safe and other shoe amenities. The slippers are of very good quality with a a thick padded sole and plush upper.

Room – Fridge, Coffee and Tea Station
St. Regis is known for having a fully stocked section for teas, coffees and snacks. You can also order two complimentary coffees or teas from your butler daily. You can also have shoes shined and up to 2 items pressed daily, all complimentary.

Gym
We have never seen a gym this large before in a hotel. It was absolutely huge with a full, and we really mean full, array of equipment. You enter the gym right in the middle with two marble counters that house mini-fridges of water. You also have fruit water and a bowl of fruit.
We won’t go through all the names of the equipment, but rest assured, there’s a machine for it.

Gym Changing Rooms
Once you’re done with your workout, you can head to the gym changing rooms and freshen up. It’s an absolutely huge area for both men and women and you’ll wonder why you shower in your own room.

KYMA Beach
If you fancy going to the beach instead of pumping some iron in the gym, St. Regis has your covered. The St. Regis itself doesn’t have any beach front property as it is in the center of The Palm, instead, they have a partnership with a private beach called KYMA Beach. They even have a Mercedes van that will shuttle you back and forth and it only takes about 10 minutes. The driver is very professional and friendly. He will make sure you know when he’ll be back and in what intervals.

Pool
If scheduling a time to go to KYMA beach is too much trouble, you can also relax at the infinity pool right in the hotel. The pool is one of the longest that we have ever seen. There are cabanas, lot’s of tables and chairs to sit and eat, a bar and of course, the very long infinity pool.
We had a great time relaxing the day of our flight which was due to take off at 2am. We ordered a sandwich and a couple of drinks, took a dip in the pool and enjoyed the heat.

Views
The hotel offered stunning views of The Palm, during our 4 night stay here, we enjoyed this hotel and what it had to offer.

In Closing
As this review has been quite long in all the details of the hotel, we haven’t yet covered the food aspect of it. So we will be writing up Part 2 of this review as a full review on the breakfast, dinners, and some snacks we had at various times.
Suffice it to say, we had a great time at this hotel. Thanks to Shanon and Endang for being such great people to talk to in the lounge and making many perfect salmon croissant sandwiches for us. Thanks also to Magdi, the Front Manager in making our stay an extremely comfortable one with our accommodations. Other notables were Nishant in the Cordelia restaurant and Irina and Fabian at the front desk.
Thanks
