Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge Frankfurt Airport (FRA) – Is This Better Than The Lufthansa Business Lounge?
We had an late afternoon flight so we had breakfast around town, headed back to The Westin Grand Frankfurt and checked out. We got to the airport early so that we can try out the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge, one of the few Maple Leaf Lounges outside of Canada. We also wanted to try the Lufthansa Business Lounge to compare the two so stay tuned for that lounge review following this one.
Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge (FRA) – Location
The Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge in Frankfurt Airport is located in Terminal 1, Area B, Level 3. We took the elevators up but there are stairs as well. If you see these super neat napcabs, you are right near the lounge.

Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge (FRA) – Entrance
Right across the napcabs is the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge, the signage is quite clear so it shouldn’t be hard to find, especially the large square box sign hanging from the ceiling.

Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge (FRA) – Inside
Once inside you are greeted with the familiar Air Canada aircraft model. The lounge itself is very large, probably even larger than the ones at Pearson Airport (Toronto) or Vancouver Airport. The lounge had many types of chairs for you to enjoy your meal, chat with friends, take a nap or do work. You won’t lack a type of chair to rest your butt in, that’s for sure. However, the one thing we did notice is that the air inside felt very stuffy and warm. It was slightly uncomfortable considering it was March and not that warm outside.

Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge (FRA) – Food and Drinks
We have to say, when it comes to Maple Leaf Lounges no matter where, the food offerings are slightly disappointing. Only one time in Toronto we had something decent like mini burger sliders, but that was just once. There were only three hot dishes, a chicken dish, potatoes and some sort of quinoa dish. The chicken was tender and flavourful at least but the potatoes were a bit bland. They had snacks in jars which can help yourself to. Decent variety but not something you can fill your stomach with for lunch or dinner. They also had some bread and cake slices. A salad bar was off to the side and one type of sandwich and one type of wrap, neither were that groundbreaking in terms of taste.

Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge (FRA) – Plane Spotting
One good thing about this lounge is the view of the runways and being able to do some plane spotting. It’s not as good as the SWISS Business Lounge E where you can go out on the terrace and hear the planes, but you have a good view.

Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge (FRA) – Washrooms and Showers
One credit we can give to this lounge is the cleanliness of the washrooms and showers. Although we didn’t need to use the showers, they were nicely stocked with Molton Brown amenities and walled with nice porcelain tiles. These showers reminded us of the excellent lounge and showers in Istanbul Airport, Turkish Airlines Business Lounge showers.

Conclusion
While the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge in Frankfurt Airport was large with lots of good seating options, the food itself was a disappointment. The temperature inside was also too warm and the air felt really stuffy. On the plus side, the washrooms and the showers were very nice and clean and that scores big points from us. After we left here we scooted over to Lufthansa Business Lounge to see how it compares.
Overall, the lounge is not a bad place, you’ll definitely find a spot of your own to relax or work. When we were there, there were only about 10 people inside so it wasn’t very busy at all. This was our fourth Maple Leaf Lounge we’ve been to and it was definitely the quietest as Vancouver and Toronto (domestic and international) are always packed.
