Mount Lycabettus, Athens, Greece – 360 Degree Views of the Entire City

It’s not the easiest place to reach but was near our hotel which made it more convenient. From The Acropolis, you can see Mount Lycabettus clearly:

A good 50 minute walk from The Acropolis to Mount Lycabettus.

A lift can take you up for 5 Euros. Round trip costs 7.5 Euros.

The views are, in my opinion, the best you will get of the entire city of Athens. 360 degrees around. There are a few restaurants but it’s not that big up on the peak so unless you eat there, you will have a hard time to spend an hour there.

Panoramic view from Mount Lycabettus.

I thought we could get great views of the Parthenon from there but honestly, it was pretty far and you are quite high up so it was quite small.

View of The Acropolis.

It was very windy up top as well so hold on to your phone/camera for if it drops off the side don’t expect to find it several hundred feet down.

The Church of Saint George sits on the top as well, it’s amazing how they build them on the mountain tops!

There isn’t too much to view on the walk down and very little signs to direct you so have a map/GPS handy. Still though if you don’t mind the walk it’s not too bad.

Tip: Walking up to the gondola is the best way to get up to the top, if you go up all the steps, you’ll arrive a bit sweaty.  If you have bad knees, spend the 2.50 Euros to get the return ticket.

Thanks
