Corfu, Greece – Old Fortress View of the Massive Yacht “A”

After getting off the ship and taking a bus ride from the port into the city we walked across a park and instantly found the Starbucks!  We talked to the employees there and they were awesome!  We asked them to hold 6 mugs for us so they stored it in one of their rooms until we got back which was about 2pm.  Thank you so much Starbucks of Corfu for helping us so that we didn’t have to lug six mugs around all day!

After Starbucks we headed back across the park to Old Fortress, Corfu.  Great places to see in this Old Fortress such as the Old Fortress Museum, Hagios Georgios Church, Clock Tower and, of course, the Lighthouse at the very edge and up the top.

Walking over the bridge to enter the Old Fortress.

We were very lucky to see the world’s largest sailing Yacht “A” superyacht.  At 142.81 meters in length and 100 meters tall, it was a sight to behold.  The sails weren’t deployed but this yacht dwarfed every other yacht there.

We walked around the town area where there were hundreds of souvenir shops.  So many handmade goods like soaps, dishes and utensils.  We couldn’t resist and bought an olive wood spatula.

After walking around the shops we hopped onto the mini-train which is on the roadway in between the park.  The street is called Viktoros Dousmani.  The train ride was 8 Euros per person and in our opinion, wasn’t quite worth it.  However, if you want to see some other minor sites around and want to get off your feet for a bit, it may be an option.

Once we got back we sat for a Greek coffee.  It was pretty strong and a bit heavy on the cream but I loved it.  We walked back to Starbucks, paid for our mugs and thanked the staff once again.

Tip: Enjoy a relaxing coffee at Josephine Cafe under the canopies but after you do your tour around the Old Fortress.  The Old Fortress doesn’t have much cover so you’ll want to do it while the sun isn’t beating down on you.

The beautiful sites of Corfu, Greece. Old Fortress is the site to see and worth making the trek to the top!
