Draco Restaurant – Markham, Ontario, Canada
We don’t usually go to restaurants in hotels in our home city but we heard good things about Draco and decided to give it a try. Parking was easy as we parked in the above ground parking garage on the second level. A short elevator ride down and you’re just outside the Marriott Hotel with Draco being just to the right of the entrance. Nice decor for the hotel lobby and the restaurant. There are booths along the left side of the restaurant which are more hidden/private with individual TV’s to watch the sports that they have on for the night. In the more open area, there are tables and at the very end, round booths. Every wall had some sort of wall accent so they spent some time and thought to make this restaurant warm and inviting.

Upon being greeted, our server, whom I won’t give out his real name so I’ll call him Sherlock, seated us and gave us a few minutes to look over the menus. As we were still undecided on what to order, Sherlock mentioned the Wild Boar Chop, which I decided to give a try. We did start off with the Crab Cakes as an appetizer which were well presented and tasty. We do have to say that it was slightly dry inside but when you mix it with the herb oil on the plate and the avocado edamame beans, the flavours come out much better.

My Wild Boar Chop was raved by Sherlock and I have to agree that it was probably the most delicious chop that I have ever had. It was well seared and locked in the flavours of the meat so that it wasn’t dry inside. The pearl barley with the bacon was a nice and different side other than something like mash potatoes and gives it a different element to your taste buds.

My wife had the King Oyster Mushroom Risotto which was very flavourful with the arugula cilantro pesto and shaved parmesan cheese. Cooked perfect being slightly al dente.

To top it off we shared the Cheesecake Spring Rolls. What a different and intriguing dessert! Capping off a delightful dinner with this dessert was perfect. Light and crisp on the spring roll with caramelized bananas and blueberries along with chocolate to moisten and mix on to make a bite full of explosion in your mouth.

Thank you Sherlock and Draco for a great dinner and evening.
