Keywest, Florida – The Beginning and Ending of HWY 1
A couple of years ago we tried to drive down to Key West, after 2 hours of driving, we made it only to Key Largo, I really should have looked more on Google Maps to know how far it really was. Seeing the bridges on True Lies and Mission Impossible 3, I thought it would have been cool but it wasn’t meant to be.

This time, we cheated and the cruise ship took us right to Key West. We still didn’t get to drive on the bridges but at least we made it to the destination. We walked off the ship and were almost immediately in the city. We found a Starbucks quickly but there were no knew mugs that we didn’t already have and we really don’t like the new Been There Series. As we walked down Duval Street, we came up to a Hard Rock Cafe. We started looking at the pins and, uh-oh, we have now started a new collection. We got the 0 Mile marker pin and the main Key West pin.

Duval Street was lined with a wide variety of small shops, souvenirs, bars and more bars. We made it all the way to the South point where you could see signs on hotels, houses and other points of interest stating that there’s was the most Southern Point in the USA.

We rounded the corner and saw a huge line, it was for the Southermost Point Buoy which is apparently the most photographed point in the USA. As we walked up Whitehead Street, you can find the Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum where you can enter for a $14 USD fee for adults. There was a sign which I found quite funny, it read that if you see a cat walking off the grounds, call security immediately. There’s around 40-50 cats there and over half of them have 6 toes!

As we continued up Whitehead Street, we saw the famous Mile Marker 0. Should have taken a shot of it with our new Hard Rock Cafe Pin, darn it!
