Warnemunde, Germany – What A Charming Town!

We contemplated hard on whether to make the 12 hour stop in Warnemunde, Germany and spend it getting to Berlin and back.  Berlin would have been a 3 hour trip there, 6 hours to walk around and then 3 hours back.  We decided to stay in Warnemunde and we found it to be a charming delightful town.  We took it easy and had a fantastic time relaxing and sitting drinking coffee and trying pastries and cookies.  We’ll have to save Berlin for another time when we can spend a few days there.

Once off the ship, it’s a bit of a walk to to get across into the town (about 15-20 minutes).  But once in the town, you really know you’re in the town as it’s not a huge place but as mentioned, super charming.  We could have eaten pastries there all day long as they were so good and super fresh.  So reasonably priced too!  You really feel like you’ve been taken back 50 years in time.  The houses are tiny but super cute looking.  The streets are lined with stores on either side, even the roads don’t have center lines because traffic is so light there.

At the edge of town further down you could see one taller building, it was a hotel called Hotel Neptun.  As you walk along the shoreline and beaches, you come up to the Warnemunde Lighthouse along with restaurants and bars.

Along the docks you will see seaside restaurants serving up local delicacies, a walking pathway, beautiful greenery with cafes in between and then shops along the other side.  It was a extremely pleasant and relaxing stroll and reminds you why you went on vacation in the first place.

Thanks
