Le Saigonnais – SASCO Business Lounge Review – Tan Son Nhat International Airport (Ho Chi Minh) – Why Is This Lounge So Bad?

Don’t get us wrong, we absolutely loved Ho Chi Minh (Saigon), but the airport is completely another story. When we arrived, we had to wait in line for immigration, no problem. Except, you choose a line and hope that it is a quick one as they don’t have a central line and you go to the first available booth. You stand in each line separately and compare your line to the next one and the next one to see how fast you are moving. If you have a slow line, do you get out and line up again at another line or just hope that it gets faster? Anyways, that was the experience upon arriving.

When we were ready to leave Ho Chi Minh, we got access to the SASCO Business Lounge and upon entering, you could tell this lounge hasn’t been updated since, well, since the airport opened. It really needs a facelift but with the new airport on its way, we doubt that’ll happen.

Le Saigonnais – SASCO Business Lounge – Location

Address: Phường 2, Tân Bình, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Le Saigonnais – SASCO Business Lounge – Seating

It was pretty busy in the lounge as it looked like quite a few planes were taking off in the evening. Seats were hard to come by and the washrooms were always packed. They had showers there but just from the look of the washrooms, I don’t think I would want to shower there. Nonetheless, they were full so I guess people do use them and I couldn’t get in to take any photos. We circled around the lounge several times before we could find a seat and table. The lounge does have a high ceiling so it makes it feel more airy and larger than it really is.

Le Saigonnais – SASCO Business Lounge – Food

The food offerings here were pretty dismal. If you wanted a sandwich, they had slices of bread or a bun, cheese on tray, meat on a tray and packets of butter. Go ahead, please assemble yourself. The sticky rice looked pretty clumpy with the pork floss spread on it and cuts of meat to add. Sliced wieners and a Vietnamese style meat load were also available but the wieners really didn’t look too appetizing. Other hot dishes were available but it just looked unappetizing to the eye.

Le Saigonnais – SASCO Business Lounge – View

There was a unique display of fashion in the lounge with mannequins wearing traditional Vietnamese outfits. They were quite nice and colourful. The lounge did overlook the apron but with the reflection of the lights, you couldn’t see out too clearly to do any plane spotting.

Conclusion

While it wasn’t hard to find the location of the Le Saigonnais – SASCO Business Lounge, the lounge is showing its age and lack of updated accommodations. The seats, while decently comfortable, there just weren’t enough of them. Tables were lacking as well and many were walking around just trying to find a space to sit and eat.

The food quality wasn’t there either. Sandwiches should be made, not just pieces for you to slap together with cheese and one type of cold cut meat.

The washrooms were not the cleanest but it was just so busy that it would be literally impossible for any staff to keep it clean and dry, water was everywhere. In addition, it seemed like the kitchen was just off to the side of the washrooms which makes us wonder how sanitary everything is food wise.

With Ho Chi Minh slated to have a new airport sometime in 2025, a new lounge couldn’t come soon enough in our humble opinion.
